Meet Emory's president

A portrait of President Claire E. Sterk outside her office

Claire E. Sterk is the 20th president of Emory and the Charles Howard Candler Professor of Public Health.

She took office on September 1, 2016, having previously served as the university's sixth provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. A public health scholar who has deepened our understanding of addiction, mental health, and HIV/AIDS, she served on the Emory faculty for 21 years.
