November 12, 2020

Dear Oxford students,

On September 30, I announced the formation of the Provost Search Advisory Committee, which will guide the process for choosing Emory’s next provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. As the chief academic officer, the provost provides essential leadership for teaching, research, and service at Emory and will partner with me — as well as the deans and faculty — to achieve that mission.

With the search now underway, ideas and feedback from you — our Oxford students — will be vital to the process. As chair of the search committee, I will be facilitating a listening session with Oxford students on December 1 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Eleanor Liu, president of the Oxford College SGA, will join me. I hope you can set aside this hour to join us and share your thoughts about what you would like to see in our next provost.

If you cannot participate, please consider sharing your comments and ideas on the feedback page of the provost search site. This site also allows you to nominate individuals you believe would make a great fit for the role of Emory provost.

I’ve only been at Emory for four months, but I’ve already seen how engaged all of you are in our community and in our mission. I look forward to your ideas as we start the process of filling this leadership position for our university.

Sincerely,

Gregory L. Fenves signature
